About the Project

PrintStator is a next-generation motor design platform that enables engineers to search, customize, and create electric motors using advanced PCB stator technology — all within a secure cloud-based environment.

The goal was to deliver a user experience that simplifies a highly technical process, streamlines onboarding for engineering teams, and visually supports ECM’s mission to revolutionize electric motor design.

The Challenge
Despite the innovation behind PCB Stator technology, the platform’s previous interface did not reflect its sophistication or ease of use.
Key issues identified:
Confusing onboarding for new users and engineers
Lack of intuitive navigation and task structure
Overwhelming technical data without contextual guidance
Dated UI that didn’t align with ECM’s high-tech positioning
Low engagement on key workflows like motor search and creation
The Goals
Define and deliver a minimally viable product that could help onboard and service new customers as quickly as possible
Key resolutions:
Simplify the user journey across motor discovery and design flows
Support complex data interaction with modular, clean UI
Highlight ECM’s brand as innovative and engineering-centric
Improve accessibility and UX for technical and non-technical users
Enable future feature expansion through scalable design systems
+42%
increase in task efficiency across motor catalog usage
+38%
higher user completion rate in custom motor design flow
+61%
rise in user satisfaction based on onboarding surveys
