Project Overview

Peace Through Music was a global livestream created to celebrate the UN’s 75th Anniversary — combining a digital concert, awareness campaign, and donation platform into one seamless experience. The challenge was to design and deliver a platform that could support tens of millions of viewers, scale reliably under pressure, and support e-commerce donations — all while telling the story behind the global Playing for Change movement.

The Challenge
Designing a high-traffic digital experience that was both emotionally impactful and technically robust. The event needed to support simultaneous livestreaming, storytelling, and a donations storefront.
Key issues identified:
No existing platform supported both immersive storytelling and seamless donation flows
Project had to be delivered on a short timeline to meet the global livestream date
Required multi-language flexibility and compatibility with global streaming platforms
Web application performance needed to support up to 10m users / month.
Needed to run on cost-efficient infrastructure without sacrificing performance
The Goals
Deliver a high-performance platform that supports storytelling, scale, and social impact — combining video, design, and e-commerce into one cohesive experience.
Key resolutions:
Built the site using JAMstack on Netlify to handle 10M+ monthly users
Designed a modular layout to support editorial content, media, and donations
Created a global-access architecture with CDN optimization
Produced custom graphics and visuals to support the event branding
Delivered a flexible CMS backend for the PFC team to update content post-launch

Meaningful context everywhere
Every part of the experience was tied to user needs and team goals, so decisions weren’t just fast — they were informed.

One place, one plan
Everyone — from designers to engineers — worked from the same source of truth. No guessing. Just clear, shared visibility into tasks, timelines, and ownership.

Ready for what’s next
The system was built to flex. As the campaign evolved, content and features could be updated without breaking flow or starting from scratch.
Stakeholder Interviews Insights
Before putting user stories into development, we had a lot of conversations to clarify and confirm the acceptance criteria. Example mapping technique is a great way
to do that. Example Mapping helps us zoom in and focus on the smallest pieces of user behavior. By mapping it out we tease apart the rules, find the core of the behavior we want, and defer the rest until later.
